VIDEO & AUDIO:

“Dirty Sexy Money - The Complete and Final Second Season” is featured in widescreen with an aspect ratio of 1:78:1, enhanced for 16×9 television. For the most piece, the portray quality of “Dirty Sexy Money” is first-rate as query from a drama series on DVD. But one of the positives of the series is that there is quite a bit of outdoor shots and definitely utilizes an account for spot construct to get the luxurious world of the Darlings.

As for the audio, the series is featured in Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround Sound. The series is primarily a dialogue driven series with front and center channels being the main source of audio distribution. Dialogue is sure and understandable. But for the most allotment, the audio is righteous for this drama series, this is not a series that doesn’t feature any major scenes that involve surround sound usage.

JUDGMENT CALL:

“Dirty Sexy Money” was a series that I really enjoyed when it first aired on television. The first season showed promise but it was such a shame that the WGA Writer’s Strike really build a damper on the series. Not only was the series crop short but its schedule was too erratic.

By the time it came abet on television for season 2, it was already ten months later. Too grand time had passed since the finale and to construct things worse, when the second season did air, again the season was out of whack as the final five episodes took several months to air after it was reported that the series was canceled. Needless to say, the series did not have worthy of a chance to catch succor on its feet.

After watching “Dirty Sexy Money - The Complete and Final Second Season”, not only did I savor it, it was bittersweet because the series ends with a major bombshell and you know there are no future episodes to continue the storyline.

Overall, I feel that fans of the series can procure some closure with this final DVD place and accumulate some satisfaction from the final 13 episodes. As mentioned, the final episode was quite captivating and again, it’s a shame that the series will not be continued.

As for the characters, I found them all quite spellbinding and you eventually become drawn to that character’s storyline. I was also drawn by the drama and the multiple infighting between the characters, and it’s quite appealing because one can gather similarities with this drama series to 80’s drama series such as “Dallas” and “Dynasty” which involve corporate greed, families that were born with luxury and of course, those few characters on the outside who seem to abhor that lifestyle.

I felt that the trimming of the first season down to 10 episodes possibly took away from worthy needed character development and for the second season, although I enjoyed the series, I did have some problems with seeing the disintegration of Cut and Lisa’s marriage but also seeing this somewhat unlikely storyline piquant Simon Elder and Nola Lyon. It was a bit farfetched and in someways, I unbiased felt that the character of Simon seemed a bit too young to be the rival of Tripp Darling and therefore, for me, it hindered the storyline as these two rich corporate behemoths would go against each other. It fair didn’t seem factual.

I did savor the fragment of Karen Darling because her character could have been handled as the typical socialite (ie. which fits the character of Juliet Darling) but easily redeems herself as a person that wants to be appreciate and wants to cherish someone. So, it was quite gripping to search for how her character started to evolve through the second season.

As for the DVD release, “Dirty Sexy Money - The Complete and Final Second Season” does feature solid represent quality for a drama series on DVD and for the most fraction, the series doesn’t have unpleasant lighting issues or heavy noise during low-light conditions that some drama series tend to have. I felt that the location accomplish and even the costume perform was well-done for the series and capturing that style and feel of the rich Darling family and their living status. Audio was quite obvious and there are a few special features included. Although, I do wish there was some sort of commentary track included, especially for the final episode.

Overall, fans who dedicated their time into watching “Dirty Sexy Money” will want to definitely check out this final second season if you happen to miss the episodes on television. Again, the final season will provide enough closure for the viewer but then instantly give you a feeling honest at the waste of the final episode of wanting more.

It’s hard to recommend a TV series on DVD especially when the series has been canceled but for the most fraction, fans who loved the series or those who missed out on how the series ended, will score “Dirty Sexy Money - The Complete and Final Second Season” satisfying but at the same time, a bittersweet feeling that you want even more “Dirty Sexy Money”, but colorful that there will be no more continuing episodes.

I treasure this reveal. How could they not have renewed it for additional seasons??

This ORIGINALLY THREE HOUR LONG film was extended for Swedish Television a couple of years after its release. I’ve seen both versions and must say that the story makes much more sense in the five hour version, and I hope that’s the one we eventually will get. However, some stuff (15 to 20 minutes or so) could have been left out in the extended version without having affected the story line, but all shots are nevertheless enchantingly beautiful. Bergman has said that this film (apparently his last for cinema) sums up all his work as a director, and I have no doubt that his career in film couldn’t have ended on a higher note. The movie is flawless and powerful, plus on DVD we’ll be able to watch it in the widescreen format!

The Criterion Collection is currently working on two separate editions of the Ingmar Bergman masterpiece Fanny and Alexander. The theatrical edition ($29.95) presents the Academy Award-winning 188-minute version of the film in a two-disc set with audio commentary by film scholar Peter Cowie, a collection of introductions by Bergman to eleven of his films, and an assortment of trailers. The special-edition five-disc boxed set ($59.95) includes the complete contents of the theatrical edition as well as the five-hour director’s cut of the film, Bergman’s own feature-length documentary The Making of Fanny and Alexander, a new 40-minute video of exclusive interviews with cast and crew, and Ingmar Bergman Bids Farewell to Film-a one-hour filmed interview with the famed director. Look for both editions of Fanny and Alexander in November!

Randolph Scott’s contributions to the western from 1945-1962 are second to none. His teaming with producer Harry Joe Brown from 1947 produced several righteous programmers for Columbia up to 1959, many of them directed by solid craftsmen like Ray Enright and Gordon Douglas but the best of them helmed first by the shimmering and talented Andre De Toth, then by Budd Boetticher, whose Ranown series of virile, lean chamber works (justifiably acclaimed as itsy-bitsy masterpieces) provided, along with Sam Peckinpah’s Bolt the High Country an ideal book kill to Scott’s respectable career. Reprehensibly, apart from the beautifully restored Paramount/Batjac release of Seven Men from Now, none of the Boetticher-Scott westerns is presently available on DVD.

Buy,Download, Or Stream The Man Behind the Gun / Thunder Over the Plains / Riding Shotgun! Click Here

Columbia have nevertheless released a proper spin of the Scotts, for which we must be thankful. It has certainly been expansive to have titles like Man in the Saddle, A Lawless Street, and Hangman’s Knot in the DVD catalogue.

These 2 unique Warner Triple Bills are terrific news for the legions of Scott fans: the Warner Scotts, never before surfacing on DVD, have some of the most delicious entries including the tough Colt 45, some well-directed De Toths like Riding Shotgun and Content Over the Plains and the primitive but highly interesting Astronomical Man Riding. Indeed the taut, suspenseful Riding Shotgun is one of the very best “wrongly accused holed-up in a hostile town” westerns with superbly staged action. Scott is beneficial as always, but Wayne Morris lends expedient attend as the hapless sheriff caught up in the middle of a conflict he’d rather be out of. I hope Warner issues another set-the sooner the better-that contains some of its remaining Scotts like The Bounty Hunter, Sugarfoot and Westbound (the last film in particular, directed by Boetticher, is a satisfactory curiosity) .

Buy,Download, Or Stream The Man Behind the Gun / Thunder Over the Plains / Riding Shotgun! Click Here

Perhaps it has been the success of other, unusual Randolph Scott Westerns being released this past year on DVD, but now Warner Brothers is releasing in very reasonably priced triple-headers two 3-film packs of classic Scott Westerns from the 1950s, and it is indeed stout news for fans of the classic “tiny A” Western, and of Randolph Scott, who in many ways epitomized the Western star of the 1940s and ’50s. These three titles can be purchased together with three more in another status for a pitance. Although the Warner Scotts were not generally excellent to the Columbia products, they were quiet reliable Westerns and very though-provoking, filled with action and the kind of dramatic adventure so treasured by fans of the genre. Several, including COLT.45, FORT WORTH, and RIDING SHOTGUN, are very ample. Here’s hoping that Warner will release CARSON CITY (one of the best from the early 50s), SUGARFOOT, and THE BOUNTY HUNTER…and if they have it, WESTBOUND, one of the seven Budd Boetticher directed Scott films. I’d even savor seeing the much-maligned SHOOT-OUT AT MEDICINE BEND (with a young James Garner)!

Thanks, Warner Brothers!

I have long wondered when Funimation would finally rep the rights to the first thirteen episodes of Dragon Ball allowing them to release a obliging situation. Now after all that waiting it’s finally going to happen and their giving us the first two sagas and beginning of the third all in one dwelling! I’m glad to read from Gen Fukunaga, president at CEO at FUNimation Entertainment, that the modern thirteen episodes will be redone uncut as up til now they’ve only been properly available in a highly edited DVD space titled ‘The Saga of Goku’. While I happily purchased that dwelling long ago from LionsGate Entertainment I’m more than jubilant to upgrade to this place if it means finally owning those first thirteen uncut episodes.

This state will beget the following 31 episodes from the Goku/Pilaf, Tournament and Red Ribbon Army Sagas:

There haven’t been any steady extras on Funimation sets other than previews for their other DVD releases so I wouldn’t count on finding any here. The region is said to include English and Japanese language options with the current Japanese musical bag in 5.1 Surround. I’m pleased Funimation and Amazon are announcing the residence as Burly Mask Aspect Ratio because though I adapted to the cropped ‘widescreen’ Dragon Ball Z sets I can’t imagine watching Dragon Ball in anything other than 4:3 aspect ratio. I’m so inflamed for this to approach out and can’t fill that my long standing wish to have the first uncut season of Dragon Ball is finally coming fair. Thanks For Your Time.

Dragonball fans have been waiting for a fine Dragonball dvd status for years. Due to the fact that lionsgate owned the rights to the first 13 episodes and the first movie, we have NEVER had all the Dragonball episodes uncut on dvd. So now it is time to delight in this series uncut, uncropped (fullscreen aspect ratio 4:3) in the scheme it was meant to be seen. With the first 31 episodes on dvd, Dragonball fans will be elated.

Adapted from a book about the evolution of movies based on more and better ways to destroy, this cable doc has shocking highlights, behind-the-scenes stories, and some fairly thoughtful explanations for why murders are so tantalizing to glimpse from writers, directors and fans. The history starts with two seminal 1960 films: the underrated British film Peeping Tom from director Michael Powell and the far-more-successful Psycho from American visual genius Alfred Hitchcock. Then it leapfrogs into and out of three general eras of slasher films. The first era begins with 1978’s Halloween, with a masked killer pig-sticking teenagers in a serene suburban neighborhood. It peters out in the early 1980s, as gratuitous masked-murderer films piggyback on Halloween’s cliches.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Going to Pieces: The Rise and Fall of the Slasher Film! Click Here

A fresh burst of creativity arises with 1984’s A Nightmare on Elm Street, dumped by its first studio because people didn’t want to glance movies about dreams, according to writer-director Wes Craven. Writer-directors had to pull out the punches in gore as movie fans had seen it all in the first wave. This era died about the time Reagan left office.

We are in the third era, according to documentarians. Fear films and slasher films in particular have been going strong since films such as Bellow laughed at the genre and films such as Saw showed some of the most unpleasant, realistic gore imaginable.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Going to Pieces: The Rise and Fall of the Slasher Film! Click Here

Going to Pieces never gets into academic or psychological discussions for why gore appeals. It lets the makers of gore and its fans expound their theories: Gore succeeds at times of sizable societal dismay (Vietnam, nuclear war, serial killers) . Gore shows us a piece of humanity–the ephemeral nature of the human body, and our very human need to gawk violence (the horrors of the Roman Colosseum are brought up briefly) . Everyone poo-poohs film critics’ theory that slasher films denigrate women; after all, aren’t women usually the victorious heroines these days? And what’s deplorable with sex in fright films?, asks a feminist-director.

Ultimately, the film is an homage to the fans. It shares stories and opinions that might not have been gleaned in director’s slit commentaries, and it ends with shout-outs to the fans who made it happen. Those who can’t stomach gore should avoid this–it’s sometimes a greatest-hits of hacking.

Going to Pieces: The Rise and Tumble of the Slasher Film (Director unknown, 2006)

IMDB, thou hast failed me! I neglected to imprint the name of the director of this doco when I watched it, and it’s not listed at IMDb. Mea culpa. Sorry. On with the point to.

Going to Pieces is broad, huge, vast, if you’re a slasher film neophyte who wants to find enthusiastic in the genre. Now, this is not necessarily a nonexistent niche market, especially with so many youngsters who have been attracted to the genre with newer variations on it (Final Destination being the determined example), all of whom were not yet born, or in diapers, when most of the films illustrious here were made. (I was only six, myself, when Gloomy Christmas, the first fair North American slasher flick, hit theaters in 1974.) The pickle is, the rest of us who would normally be attracted to it have seen all the movies, and know all the backstories. If you’re an established fan, most of the stuff you secure from Tom Savini, John Carpenter, etc. you’ll probably have gotten from other documentaries from the subject, if not from your obsessive Fangoria reading when you were a teenager. That said, it does provide an racy lope down memory lane to some flicks you might have forgotten about (Pieces and Prom Night are definitely in that category for me, I’ll have to gaze them again soon) . A lot of mountainous clips, a lot of fun (and, a warning, a lot of spoilers) . Could have had more recent substance, though. ** ½

College Road Stride [Theatrical Release]

College Road Hotfoot is a slap-stick comedy that is a tall movie to acquire your kids to, as long as they are young. The main criticism I have of this movie is about the marketing, since most kids that are college flow are probably too ancient for this. The jokes are very predictable humor. If your kids are older than 14, they will probably score this style of humor too childish for their tastes. In that method this movie is a missed opportunity for Disney to expand their market to all the older Martin Lawrence and Raven fans.

If you’ve seen the trailers, you lovely grand know the entire tale. Dad (Martin Lawrence) takes daughter (Raven) on a road scramble to check out colleges. Antics ensue.

Buy,Download, Or Stream College Road Trip! Click Here

Martin’s character is a very over-protective police chief who is a bit of a control freak. His daughter has long outgrown being daddy’s tiny girl. He wants her to stop local for college, but she wants to go away.

There’s a genius younger brother and a pet pig to add the cute factor. There must be a lot of young geniuses out there because puny brothers never have normal intelligence in movies or TV anymore, but I digress. Raven’s friends are cliched teenaged valley girls who aren’t even from the valley.

Most people who initially may be alive to in seeing the movie are either Raven fans or Martin Lawrence fans. Yet this movie was made for an audience of remarkable younger kids.

I am a large Martin Lawrence fan and I reflect Raven is very talented and comic. But both of them were under aged in this movie. Martin Lawrence is frequenty upstaged by his co-stars, and Raven does a expedient job but doesn’t have the best lines. In fact, Will Sasso, Donny Osmand, his daughter, and the pig are the highlights of this movie. And they don’t have enough scenes to execute this movie really silly for adults.

Young kids from 5 to 12 or 13 will treasure the jokes. College dash kids will score themselves wondering why they called this “College Road Sail” when it’s clearly designed for kids that aren’t even out of grade school.

Overall, this movie is somewhat disappointing. It could have been so great more with the cast that they still here. If you’ve got a group of young kids and want to seize them to a fun and wholesome Disney movie, this is it. If you’re kids are college jog, or even high school sophomores, they probably would rather study something else.

Enjoy!

I enjoyed this movie so great when it was in theaters and I can’t wait to gape this again…. I laughed so great! It made me feel better after a hard days work. I would even so my parents this because in a method …. THIS TELLS EXTACT how I feel about college and the NEED to Net AWAY from HOME! Donny Osmond was the Best Fraction, even tough, I like Raven and Martin. I truly judge you should contemplate purchasing this movie… I truly can’t wait for a second one with these two families.

By the scheme, my thirty year frail first edition copy of The Film Encyclopedia had an intriguing entry on DETOUR’S star Tom Neal. He received a law degree from Harvard University in 1938. Throughout the forties he appeared in a number of B-movies, usually cast as a tough guy. In 1951 he found himself in the middle of a appreciate triangle consuming Franchot Tone and Barbara Payton. Neal “smashed” Tone’s nose and a scandal ensued. Neal became poison and no studio would use him, so he became a gardener and later established a landscaping business. In 1965 he was accused of murdering his wife. Able to point to that the gun went off accidentally, Neal had the charges reduced to manslaughter and served a six-year sentence. He died in 1971.

‘Detour’ manages to do in 67 min. what most films dream about in two hours. Made for almost nothing in 5 days by a small-time studio, this goes to reveal that you don’t need money or grand studio relieve to earn an enduring movie. You can sense the tight budget all around. Pick into consideration for example that Ulmer shot a enormous piece of the film inside cars (search for how the first few cars have the driver’s seat on the left side, like English automobiles), a cheap nightclub and a creaky apartment. Also in the flashback sequence when Tom Neal is sitting in the restaurant, Ulmer simply achieve out the lights, made a close-up on Neal’s face and shed a rectangular light onto his eyes to compose the flashback conclude. All this techniques, while not very innovative, add to the achieve of this bleak microscopic gem. A sad runt drama that is deserving of it’s cult following. Tom Neal is the ultimate conceal chump as an innocent man who happens to land on Ann Savage’s deadly lap. Ann Savage creates one of the most ruthless characters ever to grace the silver camouflage, her character doesn’t have a shred of human kindness or decency, she’s tough, greedy, ruthless and relentless. It has all the elements of sizable noir; a truly memorable femme fatale, unlit foggy streets, acid-stingy dialogue and a hero who gets his unprejudiced desserts. A shadowy itsy-bitsy gem that deserves to be discovered by noir fans. From a scale of 1-10 I give this film an 8!

PBS viewers will sight this offering. Ferguson is charming and persuasive. He makes the fable something that even my twelve-year conventional can understand, without “talking down”. He covers the bulky range of financial dealings around the globe, from Wall Street to microfinance. His case view of Argentina makes a difficult chronicle relatively simple yet not simplistic. He positively critiques Hernando de Soto’s come ot providing title to land to the abominable as a means of securing collateral-based loans and shows where petite, uncollaterized loans can work even more effectively.

Great as a serious academic yet never unimaginative treatment of “high” and “crude” finance. Should be required for most college majors.
